Freya made the local news!!

Here is the text from the small article, titled “…And let it begin with me”, that was featured in The Columbia Missourian beneath Freya’s picture. :D
Wow!!

“Freya Hopkins attended Sunday’s peace rally with her parents (Justin and Laura Hopkins) to promote peace in the Columbia community. She rode atop her father’s shoulders as he marched from Douglass Park to the Boone County Courthouse in the Community Peace Rally Against Crime and Violence. Then she stood displaying her sign for participants and passers-by to see. The march and rally were held Sunday and were sponsored by the Youth Community Coalition.”

HERE is a link to that article, and HERE is a link to the main article titled “International Day of Peace”.
Yay! Happy International Day of Peace!
If you click to enlarge the second picture in the “Related Media” category, you will barely see Justin, Freya and I in the back row of seating….Justin is seated second to the right of the black man in the hood. Now, before you shriek and say, “Egads!!”, we listened to this man speak at the rally, and he made a very passionate speech about specific ways to end violence in high risk communities here in Columbia. He held a sign that read, on one side, “Why my black brothers, why?” and on the other side it read, “How many more have to die?”
He was making a bold statement, and we were very glad to hear his words and listen to his message along with the many other messages given today.
It was an amazing and inspiring day!
